The Register is the principal local records office for recorded real-estate instruments, plats, assumed-business-name certificates, marriage licenses, and certified Wilmington or New Hanover birth, death, and marriage copies. Wills, estate files, and divorce judgments belong to the Clerk of Superior Court instead.
